Horse racing form analysis systems and methods for finding winners

The things you need to know! Plus:-Free tips for the placepot-free daily tips

How to make money horse racing, featuring form analysis systems and methods for finding winners, "value" in betting, free tips for the placepot here in England each Saturday, a tipping section for U.K. racing, a database of horse racing reference info and a section on all-weather racing.

We will be looking at the placepot (known in some countries as the place accumulator) as I believe it offers good overall value. I have recently added a new tipping section for U.K. racing with my daily tips. For the punters I have created a section on horse racing and sports betting where for your convenience you can place all your bets from that page. There are links to bookmakers and the exchanges.

On the horse racing database pages I have now added full statistics for Sires which should prove to be of great help to race analysts and punters alike.

How to Make Money Horse Racing is divided into 4 parts and the horse racing database is in 6 parts.

Please take a few moments to download this free e-book.

It compliments what I have to say as well as the methods discussed on the how to make money horse racing pages so well.

Is this where most of your betting slips end up?

horse racing betting

It does not have to be like this!!

I think that the exchanges are a wonderful idea, I mean it is usually much easier for most punters to pick a loser than it is to pick a winner. So why not have a look at this aspect of betting, it might well be the answer you've been looking for! To open a betting account just click on one of the banners below and be guided through the process online.

Discover the world of the betting exchanges.

BETDAQ is a world leader in the new and exciting arena of exchange betting, the fastest growing sector in the global betting industry. BETDAQ, The Betting Exchange now matches over £20 million per week. With this level of liquidity added to our low commission rate, BETDAQ users get the best value in the market place. Not only this but new BETDAQ customers can also get £10 when they bet £10 - can you afford not to look?

BETDAQ users get more choice - to back or lay, to take the odds or ask for better, to bet anything from £5 to thousands of pounds. The odds available to BETDAQ users average out at 20% better than those available from traditional betting outlets, with this applying to every event, every day.

This is how the exchanges work!

Betting exchanges are fast emerging as a very popular alternative to backing with traditional bookmakers. There are still many punters though, who perhaps do not fully understand what it's all about and what benefits it might hold for them. I have therefore put down here for you all, a brief guide on how it works and hopefully then it will be easier for you to decide whether it's for you or whether you prefer the traditional way of betting.

One of the biggest attractions of a betting exchange is that not only can you back a horse to win, but you can also lay it if you think it is going to lose. In basic terms, you can either place a bet just like you would with one of the online bookies (which you can do right here on this page), or you can effectively be the bookie and post your odds and stake and people can choose to match it. The former is known as a back (or accept) and the latter is a lay (or offer). It is similar to the stock exchange with buyers and sellers of stocks. The bet exchange sites keep track of the lays and backs in the order they are matched. (You can make use of the exchanges from this page as well.)

Nothing in this world is free and you will pay for this service, but at a significantly reduced rate compared to a bookmaker. The more popular exchange betting sites such as Betfair and Betdaq, only charge the winners 5% of their winnings compared to rates like 10% to 20% for bookmakers.

Other advantages are that you can:-

  • suggest your own price.
  • prices are available from the night before or perhaps ante post.
  • odds are normally better than from a bookmaker.
  • you can place a bet or lay once an event has started.

Like everything else, it is important to understand the process otherwise you may lose money unnecessarily. A betting exchange doesn't accept the bets themselves, they merely provide a forum to match punters on either side of a wager. In addition to paying less commission on winnings with the exchanges, there is also the fact that bookmakers also build a profit margin into their odds. A betting exchange removes this profit margin from the odds, so of course the odds tend to be better.

  1. Select a horse race or some sports event and a list of currently available prices will be displayed. On the left hand side are prices at which you can back a horse, and on the right hand side will be prices at which you can lay a horse. The exchange will will always make clear what the best price currently available is.
  2. If you like the prices on display you can simply click on the price available . You will then be taken to a screen where you can enter the amount that you wish to bet or lay a horse. The amount that you can win or lose is calculated and displayed and you are asked to confirm your bet.

Another feature is that if you do not like a price , you can post a price of your own and see if anyone else is prepared to match you and thereby take your bet on! For example if you see a horse that currently has odds of 4 ( which is 3/1), and you are only prepared to back the horse at 4.5 (7/2), then you can add your bid for a bet to the exchange which is then displayed as money available for someone else to lay at 4.5!

You can play as little or as much as you like by stating just how much you are prepared to lay out, so small punters need not feel they cannot afford to get involved with the exchanges.
